NEWARK – Dec. 06, 2016 – The last time Santa Cruz visited The Delaware 87ers back on Jan. 13, 2015, The sevens cruised to a 109-96 win over the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Despite Former Tar Heel James Michael McAdoo posting game-highs in points and rebounds for Santa Cruz, putting up 28 and tearing down 18 rebounds.
Tuesday night was a different story at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware when the warriors saw five players finish the game in double figures, led by PHIL PRESSEY who scores 21 points while DENNIS CLIFFORD pulled down 9 rebounds while collecting 14 points, as CAMERON JONES amassed 41 minutes of work finishing the game with a total of 18 points.
In the second half leading by ten points “60-50” the Waaaarrrrrriiiorsss, came out to pla-ay!!! quickly elevating their lead when SCOTT WOOD goes up for a lay-up scoring while getting fouled in the process at the 11:15 mark starting a Santa Cruz 21-15 third quarter run.
CAT BARBER puts up a season-high 31, BARBER was heard yelling “We have to help each other” during the third period but help came too late for the Sevens, Shawn Long added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Lorrenzo Wade added 16 points.
With the win The Warriors (3-7) completes five-game East Coast trip and will return home to face the Austin Spurs on December. 9, 2016 at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, CA.
The Sevens will hit the road to face ATLANTIC DIVISION leading Westchester Knicks (6-1) Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at The Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York.
The 87ers will return home to the Bob Carpenter Center Tuesday, December. 13, when the Oklahoma City Blue pays a visit to the first state. In the last meeting between these two franchises Delaware dropped an overtime contest 124-120 to City Blue at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on March 22, 2015.
Delaware was led by a breakout performance from Philadelphia 76ers draft pick Jordan McRae, who scored a career-high 39 points and added 13 rebounds on that night.
