NEWARK, DE – The Delaware 87ers (16-16) couldn’t quite hang on against the Canton Charge (18-14) on Friday night when they fell to their conference rival 123-112.
The Sevens had five players in double figures. They were led by Washington Wizards assignee Danuel House, who put up a team-high 22 points. Philadelphia 76ers assignee Chasson Randle had 14, in addition to Shawn Long, while James Webb III put up 13 and Aaron Harrison added 11.

Both teams came out ready to play in the first quarter. The quarter saw three ties and two lead changes, with the Sevens leading by as many as seven and the Charge leading by as many as one. The Sevens shot 5-6 from 3-point range with the help of House, who went 2-2 from distance in the first 10 minutes. Although Canton outscored Delaware 14-8 in the paint in the first, the Sevens finished the quarter with a 31-28 edge.

The Sevens gained their largest lead of the half after going on a 10-4 run in the second quarter, which put them up 59-46 with three minutes remaining until halftime. Roscoe Smith led the way with seven points and three rebounds, in addition to one steal and one block. Webb III paced the Sevens in the first half with 11 points.

The third quarter was a rough one for Delaware. The Charge shot 87 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from behind the arc. They outscored the Sevens 48-19 and ended the quarter up by 20, 99-79. Their largest lead in the first half was only one.
Delaware attempted to make a comeback in the fourth quarter. They narrowed the gap to five with two and a half minutes remaining, 112-107, and came within seven with one minute remaining, 117-110, but there was not enough time for them to pull off a win.

The Sevens are back home tomorrow night for You Make the Call! Referee Night when they take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7 p.m. ET.
