Bulls’ Balance Too Much For Sevens

NEWARK, DE – The Delaware 87ers (25-22) fell to the Windy City Bulls (22-25) 110-99 on Beau Biden Foundation Night. This was a well-contested, back and forth game, but when the Bulls took a 46-44 lead with 6:57 to go in the second quarter they never let go of their advantage. The Sevens and Bulls tied the season series 2-2.

The game had a similar feel to the Reno and Long Island affairs earlier in the week. In those two games, Delaware got timely buckets whenever their opponent got close. Tonight, the tables were turned when it became clear the Bulls had an answer for every Sevens push.

Aaron Harrison led the way for Delaware with 32 points. He hit five three-pointers and also added eight rebounds. He was one of four 87ers in double figures, with Nate Robinson (23), Roscoe Smith (13) and Russ Smith (11) rounding out the group.

In a cruel twist of fate, Fort Wayne lost to Grand Rapids by two. Had the Sevens won, they would have moved to within 1.5 games of the Mad Ants for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. As it stands, Delaware is still 2.5 games back of Fort Wayne. The 87ers have three games left, while the Mad Ants have two contests remaining.

Windy City had an astounding eight players finish in double figures. The Bulls only had nine guys see the court, making the feat all the more impressive. Former 87er David Laury III was a high man for Windy City, pacing the club with 17 points. He was traded to the Bulls on March 2.
