Man of the Match…

Jack Harrison

The winger always looked like the most likely source of a goal to break the deadlock and he delivered it in fine style with a crashing finish under Blake after a clever run around the back of the Philadelphia defense.

It wasn’t just his goal which caught the eye on the night – he was a constant menace to the Union backline, slaloming through challenges and exchanging passes with teammates throughout the contest.

Everton FC defeats D.C. United 3-1

Everton rounded off their tour of the USA with a deserved 3-1 win over DC United.

Despite the sweltering conditions the Toffees were two up inside 16 minutes after Victor Anichebe and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov both produced clinical finishes.

The Russian’s goal was particularly pleasing on the eye, capping a fine team move.

Chris Pontius pulled one back for DC but Everton put it beyond doubt when sub Magaye Gueye scored late on.

DC United outshot the English visitors, 9-4, as the game saw both ends in the second half, but Magaye Gueye’s back post finish off a Jermaine Beckford cross put the game out of reach in the 82ndminute.
