NEWARK, DE – March 05, 2016, – The Delaware 87ers were defeated 114-106 by the Iowa Energy at the Bob Carpenter Center Friday night.
“Integrating Baron Davis into our system has not been hard, that’s the nature of the beast in this league we have guys coming and going all year, you just have to figure out ways to integrate guys on a fly” said Coach Young.
13-year NBA veteran Baron Davis, who was acquired by the 87ers (17-22) on Wednesday, recorded eight points, four assists and three steals in 19 minutes of action off the bench, in his first game in 1,398 days. Russ Smith led Delaware with 31 points on 10-of-26 shooting from the field, in addition to five assists and four rebounds. Rick Jackson posted an 87ers season-high 20 rebounds, and Ty Greene added 20 points.

How did you feel about that dunk? “I thought I was being chased by a pit bull, I thought it was LeBron James coming to block it, I didn’t want to lay it up; I figured why I’m up here I might as well dunk it”. Said Davis
The Energy (18-21) were led by Patrick Christopher who had 31 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the field in a team-high 42 minutes. Ramon Harris had the Iowa’s only double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Terry Whisnant chipped in 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go along with six rebounds and four assists.

Davis came off the bench to play five minutes and 59 seconds, highlights by a breakaway dunk for his first bucket of his NBA D-League career, and the 87ers led 24-21 after one.
In the second quarter, Smith put up 13 points to give 87ers a 56-50 lead at the half.
Greene tallied eight points in the third quarter, which helped the 87ers to a 78-75 advantage heading into the final period.
Iowa put up 39 fourth quarter points, powered by 27 combined points from Whisnant and Christopher, which saw them complete the comeback.
The 87ers travel to Iowa for the last time of the season in their next game on Sunday, March 6th, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
